Rhapsody In Yellow

divider
Something is happening.

Slowly it’s happening.

Should we take a peek?

I think it is something sweet.

Ah, Spring is back,
waltzing through the garden
in her yellow gown ---

dripping small puddles of the sweet hue
scattered on the ground.

Singing as she sways,
dancing with the breezes,
Calling to the child in each of
us as she teases.
divider
Head thrown back, sunshine tresses flung,
Music of the spheres is being sung.

Happily decorating her annual gala
in masses of forsythian hue.
Spring, Dr. William Forsyth would be proud of you.

Protect from your caprice
and your fickle freezes,
billows of the old-fashioned
- its soft relaxed form filled with small bits of cheer,

and one clump of newer variety -

stiff branches,

larger, darker, more golden,
goblet-blooms.

Do allow them to shine unscathed this year;
For your party ends much too soon.

Accenting with Goldfinches she flings toward the sky;
Spring scores the most abstract of all arts.

Using wee birds soaring in undulating lines
to sing the high notes sweet –
in high, barely audible tweets,

Blythe and blue spirits rise with each crescendo.

Heavenly scenes, fragrances and sound,
Spring’s decor replaces Winter’s grays and brown.

Gaiety is riot as she moves in terpsichorean manner

Trailing butter-pats of dandelions everywhere she goes.

This is her prelude to May and to May’s rose.

Refreshments are served!

Wow! That is simply the lovliest poem and photo combo ever! Thank you for the gorgeous tour - my Mom's birthday is tomorrow and yellow is her favorite color. When the dust settles around my place I want to do a "yellow garden" for her. Daffodils and Forsythia are a MUST! Also maybe a honey locust tree.

Thank you for the really nice comments on my blog. About Rose Campion, I think it does spread by roots - and boy does it ever. Goes through cement-like, dry, compacted soil like nothin'! So, maybe tempting fate to plant it, could lead to long bouts of invasive root digging... Thanks again, Bonnie

Forsythia! It's everywhere.

Thank you for your vote and kind comment on the 'Forknmonkey' site.

Hadn't come across Garden Monkey until today.

Ahh... Soon very soon there will be tulips, daffodils and forsythia here to. At the moment though it's snowing (*growling*).
Your yellow images are excellent compensation until then.

Wow Bonnie, you were a busy gal! That must have been so much fun to ramble about the garden with camera in hand and take all those amazing photos.

Thanks for taking the time to show them to us.

Hi - you have similar plants in flower to me although I am in the Uk - we must be in similar zones. However your goldfinches look very different to UK goldfinches - much yellower.

I think you could safely say this entry is pretty doggone YELLOW. LOL, what a marvelous blog you have. I just ran across it our of Blotanical where I also just joined. Being from Owensboro originally and now living in Portland, Oregon, I so miss those dogwood and redbud shows in Spring. Reading your blog is like a nice trip back home. Wonderful blog.

Amy and garden author, what can I say? You two made my day. Thank you! I know it isn't to everyones taste, but sometimes I just have to get it out of my system.

Steve, your words are music to my heart. We were born and reared in Dyersburg, Tenn. in western Tenn. not very far from Owensboro. Been there several times, but it has been a long time.
