Green Haze

One more look at spring... and her misty green.

What I am trying to show in this series of photographs is the flowering of the Sugar Maple Trees, not the bright colors of the tulips.

At this time of the year it seems to me that the air is pale chartreuse colored. Is it my imagination? Perhaps it is the reflection, off so much new green growth, glowing in the air.

Sugar maple trees are renowned for their autumn colors, the beautiful golds, oranges, yellows, red-orange and all gradations in between. Those who have read "History of the Garden" on my web site already know that when this neighborhood was planned and laid out back in the 1950's the first thing they did after marking the streets was to plant sugar maple trees all along them, two to a house. Therefore, October here has always been gorgeous. It still is, however the trees are in decline and several have been removed.

But, to me the stage when they are in bloom is the prettiest; when those large trees are gowned in lace-like dainty pale chartreuse
tassels and fringes stirring in the breezes. Their new, cool spring dresses are perfect for the season and could not be lovelier.

If you would like to see more of this area here is a link to the slide show.

I know what you mean about the green haze. It is like that here, especially in the morning. That border is beautiful

These photos are so beautiful. I don't think I have ever seen a Sugar Maple before. That close up of the blossoms is just amazing.
Is this your front yard? It's lovely.

I love it when you change your header picture, Barbee. It's as good an indication of the changing seasons as the calendar. Fabulous pictures.

My maples are in bloom now and I've been enjoying the chartreuse haze, too. And I also love your blue river between the tulip beds!

All I can notice are those lovely lovely tulips with the path of muscari down the middle. Wonderful!

Hi Everyone! Thank you for your nice compliments regarding the photos and the flowers. Yes, that is our front yard. And, Victoria, I was so glad when I could finally change the header from that dreary winter scene. We kept having snow, so I kept waiting until it truly looked like spring in this garden. It is definitely here, now.

I loved the slide show. What pretty flowers!!! We have had a green haze of pollen everywhere for weeks and I am sick and tired of sneezing and coughing etc. I wish we could get a heavy rain to wash it all away!

That's a beautiful planting! I know what you mean about the chartruse haze, my sinuses seem convinced it's pollen! :)

CiNdEe and Lisa:
Yuck! I hadn't thought about it being pollen in the air. Thank you both for the positive feedback.

Beautiful pictures! I love that haze you are talking about. It's there some mornings early, early when I go out to get the paper. There is something quiet and serene about it

Wonderful, wonderful woods in your header, Barbee.

(And it reminds me of when I first found your blog and was struck by your header and spent ages and ages looking into it and coming back to it . . . must have been this same time of year.)

Meadowview Thymes, it is nice to know that others have noticed it. Other readers have confirmed it, too. Now, I know it is not my imagination. Or, if it is, I'm in good company! :)

Hi there, Esther, Thank you. Yes, I think it was about this time. After learning how much you enjoyed that view, I now think of you every time I see the photo.

Hello, Connie, thank you for visiting and for leaving a comment. It just happens that that spot is pretty, but not everything here is so pretty. Mother Nature is jealous and tries to wrest spots away from me.

Dee, A big thank you! Isn't it interesting how much cameras show us that we probably never would notice if we weren't looking for the perfect and interesting shots to take. Thank you for your visit and comment.
