Frost On the Pumpkins Tonight
November 24, 2003
Don't forget your coat and cap!
Last night the north wind blew in a cold front. Today is a pretty, sunny day - but cold. Feels like Thanksgiving.
My memory keeps "hearing" Mammaw Bennett say, "There'll be frost on the pumpkins tonight."

Husband/Best Friend is back, ok. He and others from his Sunday School class were helping the church deliver Thanksgiving baskets this morning. Brrrrrr!

It is cold up there. I went to Cincinatti this weekend and could not believe the temperature difference between there and here. Brrr-stay warm.
Barbie, I was just back in Louisville last week for a wedding and a Mom visit. It went from a 67 degree day to a 38 degree day overnight...........ouch. Then lower.
I have become less and less a fan of cold weather! I think I am getting older. I hope all is well with you guys and that you thoroughly enjoy your Thanksgiving. All the bestest!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Barbee! It's been an unusually warm November this year for us, but I'm sure it won't last much longer :)
Brrrr, it's definitely pumpkin-frosting time here, Barbee'! Our poor pumpkins. But it really warmed my heart to hear you refer to your Mammaw. Maybe it's just a Kentucky thing, but my great-grandma was Mammaw, too. I always thought it was the Kentucky-ized version of the French "Maman," from a more genteel era than our own!
My hubby just said that phrase the other morning. Our pumpkins are being eaten by the squirrels that visit the woods.
Holiday baskets....a nice thing to do near Thanksgiving. I'm sure they are really appreciated.
Happy Thanksgiving, Barbee.
Just wanted to pop over here and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
Hmmm... I could use some of that cold weather right now. This November has been 4*C warmer than normal and I keep looking for excuses to switch the AC on.
tina (Tennessee, U.S.A.): Thanks, Tina. I just wish it would make up its mind if it is going to cold or warm. It keeps yo-yoing.
Steve (Oregon, U.S.A.): Nice that you could make the trip. Hope you had some warm clothes with you. And, the bestest to you and yours, too.
Blossom (Canada): Thank you, Blossom. I just hope everyone can stay well and enjoy their holiday. I know you had yours in October, so here's wishing you a happy weekend.
ourfriendben (Pennsylvania, U.S.A.): Language is interesting, isn't it. Lovely thought you share about the French "Maman". Thank you.
Balisha (Illinois, U.S.A.): Our resident animals have enjoyed our pumpkins, too, even if they were the small kind. I know, this year, there are more people than ever needing a helping hand with food. I wish everyone of them could have been reached.
skeeter (Georgia, U.S.A.): Hi there, Skeeter, same to you!
Sunita (India): I know some people in Ohio who would probably be glad to share their cold with you :) Sunita, when I read your comments aloud to my husband, I help him recognize which one you are by reminding him: She is the one with Vipers in her garden. That just scares me to death!
Brrrr is right! Happy Thanksgiving Barbee!
happy thanksgiving!

Hi Barbee, stay warm. We got rain last night and it sounded so good on the skylight. Rain usually makes me grateful.~~Dee
Just wanted to say hello and to thank you for following my blog.
It is pretty cold here tonight in UK terms and I have two new chickens out in my henhouse. hope they are ok!
Hi Barbee, I'm pretty new to blotanical, but since I've been here I've noticed a lot of people seem to enjoy your blog, so I decided to come over and have a visit. Sorry you haven't been around here for a couple of weeks but will stop back again after you write some more posts! Jan PS If it's ok with you, I'm going to 'follow' your blog.
Barbee, thanks for letting me know about the broken link. The correct URL is http://www.phillipoliver.net/sgrosesshade.htm
Hi Barbee,
Your comments were appreciated today. You were one of the first to comment, when I started blogging. I first started this "journal" for myself and then to find out that someone actually read what I wrote, gave me some encouragement and the desire to do a better job. It's near the end of the year and I just wanted to thank you for your interest in reading my first attempts. It is something that I really enjoy. A fun project each day... for someone getting older. Thanks again and Merry Christmas, Balisha
It is such fun to read all your comments: thank you, thank you, thank you!
