MARCH (Back Home)
The river flows,
Willows glow,
Cypresses green,
Peepers sing,
It is spring.
Little child, do not be afraid.
That is spring’s first thunder.
It wakes the frogs from their winter sleep.
It did not mean to make you weep.
A perfect morning for sleeping in;
Dark clouds,
A sluice of rain.
Redwing blackbirds’
Steady gurgling
"oak-a-lee"
Refrain.
To Maywin -
There once was a serious gardener who didn't like yellow.
His well-contrived garden lacked something; it wasn't quite right.
His wife told him he needed to add a little yellow.
He did,
it looked complete,
lucky fellow.
